I think it is some sort of a mushroom but not sure what it is. Any ideas?
UPDATE: thanks again to our friend from Coral Gables Dailyphoto, now we know it is a Stink Horn, "a very strange mushroom with a rotten smell".

It's the stink horn, a very strange mushroom with a rotten smell. If you look around your garden you might see it before it opens. I looks like a ping pong ball.
